Boy Scout Troops Boy Scout Information

Boy Scout Troops

The Boy Scout Troop is the basic unit of The Boy Scouts of the USA program.  Boy Scout troops can be as small as six girls to as large as 30 boys.

The Boy Scouts organization begins with local Boy Scout councils, which in turn operate smaller groups called service units.  Service units operate Boy Scout troops for all age levels.

A Boy Scout troop is led by 2 unrelated men.  Women rarely lead Boy Scout troops.  Boy Scout Troops operate mostly independently, raising money, going on trips, and functioning together as a unit.
